We were sorry to hear that Charles had departed this world and that Lesley will now have to adapt to life without her incorrigible partner. We met Charles and Lesley well over 30 years ago through our joint love of sailing, good food and wine and the natural world. We have shared all of those together, in Portsmouth and the Solent, Polruan and Cornwall and at the holiday home which we had in Normandy. Charles was very excited when he discovered that lizard orchids had appeared in the wild part of the French garden so we like the donation choice. He was always someone who did not stint on filling a supper with generosity and giggles and great to share time with on sailing trips. One of the most memorable of our times together was the transition from the 20th to 21st century which we marked with a party at Polruan - rich food, sparkling wine, fireworks but, above all, a happy few days with close friends. Thinking of you Lesley and we hope to see you next week for a hug.
